Also Ecke des Zeltes.
**************************
So today we transfer to the southern terminus of the trail or at least in the immediate vicinity with the „PCT Southern Terminus Shuttle“.
And also later than expected because I had only just been to the doctor. Nothing crazy, I’m fine, I got antibiotics, partly just to be on the safe side and that’s fine.
“Just going to the doctor” costs around 300 USD, of which the antibiotics are the cheapest at 12 USD. What the heck, the ERGO Young Traveler insurance will hopefully take care of it.
When we arrive at the CLEEF campground, we set up our tents and „bam“ a guy rope on one corner tears off. The corner of the tent. Right on the tent fabric. Due to the construction, the tension cords for the floor corner apparently also get affected. So first curse and then improvise and contact the manufacturer – replacement tent is no problem, it only takes 14 days until it arrives… bummer.
I’ll probably have the replacement tent sent to me, but I’ll probably buy another tent in Julian instead of retying the cords with the defective one every evening.
It’s beautiful weather today, so that’s fine, but if it’s raining or something like that I honestly don’t need it.
But the best weather also means that it gets extremely cold at night when the sky is clear.
And so we have temperatures just below zero outside, in the morning I have frost in the tent… 😁 but only on the outer walls, water is not frozen.
That was day zero, hiking starts tomorrow.
